His father Rousseau has had a very big influence on dressage breeding and still lives on in his dressage sons such as Blue Hors Zack and Ampère. Mother of Leonardo D.E. is Tetske by the stallions Olivi and Roemer. Tetske is also the mother of the Grand Prix stallion Ivar D.E. (by Ampère).
